Meditate in Brandon
All classes in Brandon are taught by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Rigden.
Suitable for everyone, these drop-in classes provide a comprehensive introduction to meditation, offering guidance at all levels for developing and deepening your meditation practice. Learn meditations to relax body and mind, find inner peace, achieve mental clarity, and develop a kind and compassionate attitude towards others.
Our “Simply Meditate” class is a perfect opportunity to learn different meditations and the basics of a meditation practice. Each class includes two guided 15-minute meditations and instructions that can easily be integrated into daily life.
These drop-in classes, suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike, help us discover the profound benefits of engaging in meditation and enable us to develop a naturally peaceful, calm and happy mind.

Meditations for Relaxation
The first is a basic breathing meditation that helps to disengage the mind from the busyness of everyday life and create a special feeling of inner peace. The second combines mindfulness of the breath with visualization, or creative imagination, and leads to a deep feeling of inner calm and purity. The third is a special breathing meditation that combines mindfulness of the breath with the recitation of mantra.
Meditations for a Clear Mind
The first meditation lays the foundation for meditating on the mind by helping to temporarily overcome physical appearances. The second introduces us to the clarity of our mind, and the third is a meditation on our root mind.
Meditations for a Kind Heart
The first is a meditation on cherishing others – thinking that others are important, and that their happiness and freedom are important. The second is a practical meditation on compassion – the sincere wish to protect others from suffering. The third is a practical meditation on love – the sincere wish to give happiness to others.
Love, Desire, and Possessiveness
There is nothing wrong with desire; however, uncontrolled desire is very painful. In this course we will explore methods to increase our good heart of love while reducing the jealousy, possessiveness and attachment that can wreak havoc on our relationships.
The class format includes two guided meditations, a short talk from a modern Buddhist approach and time for Q&A and light refreshments. No previous experience in meditation or Buddhism is required. Everyone welcome!
