Our Resident Teacher
Gen Kelsang Rigden
Gen Kelsang Rigden is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Winnipeg. Gen Rigden, ordained in 2004 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, has been studying and teaching Modern New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) Buddhism internationally for over 16 years. She is known for her warm-hearted disposition and presents the teachings in a clear and accessible way. Gen Rigden teaches the Tuesday evening class, Brandon classes, the Thursday evening class, the Sunday In-depth Study Class and most weekend events.
Due to many local requests for Kadampa Buddhism to appear in Manitoba over the years, and a direct request by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Rigden was sent by Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada to Winnipeg in August 2016 to help develop a Kadampa Meditation Centre using the International Temples Project. Gen Rigden brings many years of experience of being a Resident Teacher in Ontario and the Caribbean.
Gyalchog joined us at KMC Wpg July 2017 and has since tirelessly helped the growth of the Centre to benefit many in the Manitoba area. Ordained over 10 years ago, Gyalchog has been a Resident Teacher and a manager of centres in Southern Ontario and British Columbia. She brings her personal experience and dedication to KMC Wpg and we are very fortunate to have such an experienced and dedicated practitioner.
As well as being our Administrative Director, Gyalchog leads the lunchtime meditations Tuesdays and Fridays and Thursday morning Simply Meditate Class. You will also see her during the Open Hours Tuesday and Thursdays 1-4pm in the Shop and assisting classes in the evenings.
