Our Resident Teacher
Gen Kelsang Rigden
Gen Kelsang Rigden is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Winnipeg. Gen Rigden, a Canadian nun, was ordained in 2004 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in England. She has been studying and teaching Modern Kadampa Buddhism internationally for many years in places such as England, Barbados, the United States and Canada. Gen Rigden is known for her warm-hearted disposition and presents the teachings in a clear and accessible way.
Due to many local requests for Kadampa Buddhism to appear in Manitoba over the years, and a direct request by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Rigden was sent by Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada to Winnipeg in August 2016 to help develop a Kadampa Meditation Centre using the International Temples Project. Gen Rigden brings many years of Teaching experience in other other areas of Canada such as Ontario and British Columbia as well as the United States and the Caribbean.
Gen Rigden is also available to lead meditations for community or corporate events.
